Wow, how is everyone feeling out there? For me, it feels a little bit like survival mode! I feel as if I have reached a threshold point of wanting to see drastic changes in my life, but I am needing to ground into patience, trust, and faith. I feel as if everything is different inside, without quite knowing exactly what that means, and yet everything in my external life and security looks and feels the same. As we moved into Pisces season, the rain began here in Southern California, and I did feel a bit of a softening, even though I didn’t quite feel anything slow down. I just felt I was able to hold to trust a little more than to agitation, worry, and fear.

Pisces is not only the last water sign, connecting us to the emotional state, healing, and inner depths of the collective AND the individual, but it is the last sign of the entire astrological wheel. This means that we are at the end of the year. That we are at a threshold point, like I mentioned above. We are in a portal of release before we are birthed anew around the Spring Equinox. The water of Pisces invites us to embrace flow, so that our inevitable release can happen with more ease, and healing can happen with compassion, support, and nourishment for ourselves.

Since we are in this season, the Full moon happens in Virgo, an earth sign connected to our healing, discernment, and refinement for our most beautiful life. Virgo is connected to details, systems, growth through softness and minimizing, and the creation of efficiency and streamlining for optimal vitality, enjoyment, and fulfillment of our life. As it is related to the mind-body connection, when imbalanced it can bring us into a space of overthinking, anxiety, worry, perfectionism, and more. We can find ourselves wanting to control and know the answers of how we can be our best selves, live our best lives, but in the middle of this season of release, it is essential that we ground into the present and practice trust that the way will show itself… soon.

Since full moons are all about release, as we approach it in the middle of a season of release, the purging energy can feel potent right now. It can feel like a pressure cooker. Like we want things to go and make room for something new, without even knowing what exactly it is that needs to go or what it is we are making room for. This week can bring a sense of confusion and as we may want to go into our minds to find relief from the fogginess, what we can do to support ourselves is to come back to the body. Come back to the body in ways that foster a mindful state, whether that be yoga, dance, a bath, a foot soak- for pisces is the feet- a walk, a run, or finding yourself horizontal on the earth with a hand on your heart.

Today in my yoga class, the teacher invited us to explore how our breath could be nourishing and healing in each moment. I found this reframe to be so simple, yet so poignant. It helped me to descend beneath the overthinking of my breath- is it slow enough, long enough, deep enough- and into how the breath felt in my body.

I invite you to ask yourself throughout these intense energies- how can I nourish and support myself right here, right now? How can I be with this version of me?

On top of the full moon and the end of a year, we have Chiron, the wounded healer, conjunct/next to the North Node (our collective and therefore big picture direction.) Chiron is the archetype of how our deepest wound becomes alchemy for our most empowered, authentic, and giving life. As it is conjunct the north node, we have extra energy pushing us towards healing. Being in Aries, it can feel intense, whether that be activating, energizing, urgent, aggressive, or even motivating.

Although most energies are inviting a sense of healing, it is important to remember that often healing has a soft connotation, when in fact it is often uncomfortable, uncertain, though beautiful work. So, yes, the stars, life are conspiring to help us live our most magical lives, but that also requires a witnessing, release, and integration of what stands between us and the inspiration, awe, authenticity, and satisfaction. It is okay if it feels hard right now. We may feel like we are in a blender, waiting for the mess to be poured out so we can start as a fresh vessel, ready for new creation.

So, be gentle. Let us allow ourselves to be as compassionate with ourselves as possible and continually come back to nourishment. For this is difficult work, even if it feels like we aren’t seeing tangible challenges. Let us have grace that even if we don’t ‘see’ difficulty it does not mean we can’t experience it deeply. Let us give ourselves permission to do what we need and want, so that we can let each version of us (emotional, fateful, ashamed, embarrassed, anxious, excited, all of them) know they are safe, loved, and deserving of support.
